  101. 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

  105.             panels of the type specified herein.

  107. 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  108.  
  109.     A.  Deliver materials in manufacturer's original packages.

  111.     B.  Inspect the materials upon delivery to assure that
  112.         specified products have been received.

  114.     C.  Report damaged material immediately to the delivering

  121. 1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

  155.         feet (1.219 by 2.438 m).  DesignWall(tm) is also
  156.         available in lengths of 9, 10, and 12 feet (2.743,
  157.         3.048, and 3.657 m) on special order.  Actual size
  158.         is 1/8 inch (3 mm) less in each direction.

  217.             b.  Density:  24-26 pcf (385-415 kg/cubic m).
  218.             c.  Water Absorption by volume (2 hour immersion):  5

  222.             e.  R-value:  1.11 (0.19).

  262. 2.3 ACCESSORIES

  268. NOTE ** Homasote joint and trim moldings in low lustre
  269.         black or white are also available, including cap,
  270.         inside and outside corners, and "H" for butt
  271.         joints.  Inquire of the manufacturer.

  273.     A.  Metal Frame Clips:  Manufacturer's standard clip for
  274.         securing panels to framing.
  275.  
  276.     B.  Adhesive:  APA approved panel adhesive.

  278.     C.  Adhesive:  APA AFG-01 subfloor adhesive.

  280.     D.  Nails:  Color coordinated paneling nails, length as
  281.         required to penetrate wood framing 3/4 inch (19 mm)

  296. PART 3  EXECUTION
  297.  
  298. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  299.  
  300.     A.  Examine substrates upon which work will be installed.
  301.  
  302.     B.  Verify framing member spacing complies with
  303.         manufacturer's requirements depending on substrates and
  304.         installation methods.
  305.  
  306.     C.  Verify environmental conditions are, and will continue to
  307.         be, maintained in accordance with manufacturer's
  308.         recommendations.
  309.  
  310.     D.  Coordinate with responsible entity to perform corrective
  311.         work on unsatisfactory substrates or conditions.
  312.  
  313.     E.  Starting work by installer is acceptance of substrate and
  314.         environmental conditions.
  315.  
  316. 3.2 PREPARATION
  317.  
  318.     A.  Follow manufacturer's instructions for allowing panels to
  319.         be exposed to environmental temperature and humidity
  320.         conditions for not less than 24 hours before start of
  321.         installation.
  322. NOTE ** Burlap is a natural fabric and can vary in shade
  323.         between production runs.  Before installation,
  324.         Burlap Panels should be positioned in place to
  325.         ensure that desired appearance is obtained.  Delete
  326.         the following paragraph if Burlap Panels are not
  327.         specified.
  328.  
  329.     B.  Temporarily position Burlap Panels in place and request
  330.         Architect's approval, to ensure that desired appearance
  331.         is obtained.
  332.  
  333. 3.3 INSTALLATION
  334. NOTE ** Homasote specifies framing at 16 inches (400 mm)
  335.         o.c. for all installation methods except over
  336.         finished walls; panel edges and ends are required
  337.         to align with framing members or be blocked for all
  338.         methods.  Verify that appropriate framing section
  339.         or drawing notes comply.  Special framing may be
  340.         required if panel joint layout is defined.
  341. NOTE **
  342. NOTE ** Furring for masonry or concrete walls can be one-
  343.         by's (19 mm) wood or standard hat-shaped metal
  344.         furring channels.  Specify furring in the
  345.         appropriate wood or metal framing section.
  346.  
  347.     A.  Follow manufacturer's instructions for cutting and
  348.         installation of panels:
  349. NOTE ** Installation is dependent on substrates; select
  350.         from the following subparagraphs accordingly,
  351.         deleting those not required for the project.
  352.         1.  Wood Framed Walls, Method No. 1, (using framing
  353.             clips).
  354.         2.  Wood Framed Walls, Method No. 2, (using adhesive).
  355.         3.  Metal Framed Walls.
  356.         4.  Wood or Metal Furring over masonry or concrete walls.
  357.         5.  Finished Walls (walls with continuous substrate in
  358.             place).

  360. 3.4 CLEANING
